The husband and wife team of David Hulburt and Sherry Finneran founded the Family Education Center (FEC) in 1975, to help individuals, families, and organizations develop and practice the skills necessary to build and nourish their relationships.  Dave and Sherry practice what they teach about marriage and family.  They approach their coaching practice with the same energy and skills that they apply to their own marriage and family.  They were married in 1975, the same year they established FEC, and have continued as Co-Directors of both since that time.

David Hulburt, LCSW, CFLE
David Hulburt, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Certified Family Life Educator, has worked as a psychotherapist, teacher, counselor, administrator and program developer in private practice, academic, and community health settings.  Dave is Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.  At VCU, he teaches, consults, and supervises in the field of Marriage and Family Education, and Relationship Coaching.

Sherry Finneran, M.S.Ed., CFLE
Sherry Finneran has been a teacher and consultant in public and private schools.  She has presented her communication-based workshops, classes, and training seminars to hundreds of business organizations, schools, religious institutions and other groups.  She has also consulted and trained with various agencies of the Commonwealth of Virginia in areas such as family and parenting, violence prevention, problem-solving, and conflict resolution in the workplace.  Sherry specializes in teaching conflict resolution skills. She has been certified by the Supreme Court of Virginia as a Certified Family Mediator, and is certified by the National Council on Family Relations as a Certified Family Life Educator.   Sherry has been an Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of Virginia, where she has taught Team Development in the Management Information Services (MIS) program.

Dave and Sherry have three grown children, and live in Richmond, Virginia.
